Meet Randi Robbins, LCSW

TRAUMA THERAPIST IN SILVER SPRING, ONLINE ACROSS MD, VT, & NY

An affirming space to break free from what’s holding you back.

If you’ve never quite fit in & are tired of feeling stagnant in life — you’re in the right place.

I work with people who…

  • Feel stuck, even if they’ve already done a lot of therapy — You’ve done the talking and made some progress, but you still don’t feel much different—and you're ready for something deeper.

  • Are navigating the weight of trauma from family or relationships — You're carrying pain from a difficult past and want support making sense of it, setting boundaries, and deciding what relationships are worth holding onto.

  • Feel overwhelmed, frozen, or like they just can’t get things moving — You’re trying to move forward and can name the patterns you keep falling into, but you can’t seem to make the necessary changes to break them.

  • Are neurodivergent or questioning whether they might be — You're learning how your brain works, unlearning old shame, and looking for support that doesn’t make you feel like you have to mask.

  • Are LGBTQIA+, nonmonogamous, or part of other marginalized communities — You want to be understood fully, without having to over-explain or worry whether your therapist is judging you.

  • Have busy minds, big responsibilities, and not a lot of extra energy — You’re stretched thin by a high-demand life and want more than just coping—you want to feel like yourself again.

How we’ll work together

Helping you connect the mind & body to fully heal.

In our work together, we’ll do more than just talk about what’s been hard—we’ll actually do something about it.

I’m trained in a variety of methods that help your mind and body work together, because when something stressful happens, it doesn’t just exist in your memory—it lives in your body, too. These methods go deeper than thinking about what happened or telling the story on repeat—they tap into the ways your body has held onto stress or pain, even if you can’t remember (or don’t wish to share) every detail.

I’ll meet you with curiosity, warmth, and approaches that are tailored to you. My role is to provide a supportive space for us to gently explore what’s been showing up in your life, help you make sense of it, and decide what might help things start to shift. You don’t have to know exactly what you need right now—we’ll figure it out together.

At the beginning of our work, it might feel like you’re at the foot of a mountain, unable to imagine ever reaching the top. I’ll remind you that you can get there, and that it will be worth the work. We’ll take it one step at a time, and I’ll be with you the entire way.

Therapy with me is…

Affirming of your experience & identity

You don’t have to explain or defend who you are here. Whether you’re queer, nonmonogamous, neurodivergent, or drawn to alternative approaches to healing—this is a space where that’s not just accepted, it’s understood.

I’ll also never ask you to fit into a “typical” mold—this is your journey, and I want you to feel comfortable. If that means you want to shut your camera or stim and fidget while we’re talking, you’re absolutely welcome to do so.

If you’ve learned to shut down to keep the peace or you feel like your emotions spill out faster than you can catch them, I want you to know: I can handle whatever you’re bringing to the table. You get to show up fully, without shrinking or second-guessing.

Focused on getting to the root of your struggles

I believe that many mental health challenges—anxiety, depression, dissociation, overwhelm—are created or exacerbated by traumatic or stressful experiences. If something still sticks with you or keeps showing up in your thoughts, your body, or your relationships, it matters. You don’t need a specific label or a capital-T trauma for that to be true.

I focus on helping you get to the root of what’s going on, whether it’s loud and obvious or something quiet that’s been in the background for years.

Based on evidence-backed methods & ample experience

I use therapies like EMDR, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy because they’ve been clinically proven to actually help people feel better. I’ve invested (and continue to invest) ample time and resources into training and becoming an expert in these approaches, and I believe that when tailored to your needs, this kind of treatment can be life-changing.

Some of these approaches might feel a little weird at first, and that’s okay—I’ll explain what we’re doing and why, and we’ll move at your pace. The goal is to help you get unstuck in ways that feel deeper than surface-level.

I help people who are neurodivergent or members of the LGBTQIA+ community to grow beyond their childhood or relationship trauma—and whatever else is keeping them stuck.
